Brand Design for Kristy Maffit

A beautiful brand and an inspiring story....

As I’ve worked with Brand Design clients over this past year, this is the one who stands out the most to me. The reason I’m telling you this isn’t because of her Brand Design and what we created, it’s because of her story.

Kristy Maffit is a writer. She’s always had the gift of writing, but didn’t believe it to be something worth pursuing. She always had the basic belief, as I know many of us have felt as well, that creative endeavors can’t pay the bills so they’re not worth your time and energy to cultivate. Sure, you can dabble in them on the side every once in awhile, a creative outlet or hobby, but believing in them as a career...that feels too crazy.

Kristy pursued a career as a pharmacist instead, and she’s very good at her job! She’s a single Mom and this day job is a blessing that has provided many opportunities for her and her family. But one day she got the itch and started to write again. She had a story in her head, that had been ruminating for many years, and one night while watching TV a coincidence happened that set her in motion...and she started writing her book.

This story that had been in her mind for years was finally coming out. She was finally putting to pen to paper (or more likely fingers to the keyboard) and telling the story that needs to be told. She started to feel the fire in her soul again. For the first time in a long while, she was feeling more like herself, and discovering who that person was/is. Everyday is a new challenge, a new self discovery and a new way of thinking. For the first time since she was little, Kristy is allowing herself to dream and dream big!

I feel so inspired by Kristy and I completely believe in her. I told her I was really excited to introduce her brand to you, because yes, I totally love this brand design, but also because her story is so inspiring. It doesn't matter where you're at, it's never too late to dream big and pursue that dream!

Kristy is faced with all kinds of fears as she pursues her writing, but her bravery is helping her pursue something she’s always dreamed of, but didn’t always know it.

I couldn’t be more proud of this woman. Chasing down her dreams and goals. It’s never too late to start and I LOVED getting to work with her on this brand design. One of my favorites to date.

Please take a moment to read a little bit of her story here: https://arenaissanceglow.com/glow/

Prologue:
Sometimes I try to remember my first memory. I sit, closing my eyes tightly, gradually slowing my breath and concentrate, like a rolodex unraveling, sifting through the images, the events playing out in my mind.
Only I can’t find a beginning.
That’s how it is for me, for Angels. We. Just. Are. No birth, no parents, expressions from our Heavenly Father and Divine Mother. As divine messengers it’s our mission to guide, inspire, and nurture humankind.
Many years have passed under our guidance and protection. As an Angel we do not have the same free will or full range of emotions, the very aspects that define being human, the consequences for those who thought such ripple to this day. We were created to help carry out the purpose, but are not the purpose in its entirety. Our days on the Milky Way Triad have come to resemble those on earth, but it still is not enough.
Unnoticed, we walk among humans, connecting souls to scrolls – celestial incarnations. Trying to understand: being human, happiness, sadness, love and loss better, to experience life and living.
In the Valley of the Sleeping Giant an uprising is threatening to shift the balance, Fallen Angels, Anakim and Nephilim are banding together hoping to overthrow the good and grace on Earth, hoping for cosmic domination. I’m leading a fleet of heavenly host to incarnate and shift the tides back toward the light and love on this dark planet Earth.
So, this is where my story begins, not my first memory, but my first earthly memory as a senior at Capital High.

Now, let’s jump into the details of her Kristy’s Brand Design.

Inspiration/Mood Board:

We wanted to create a brand that was very Kristy and would also appeal to a younger audience. Kristy’s book are fictional stories written more for the young adult, specifically female. Basically, Kristy said, she wants to write stories for her 15 year old self. I thought that was the perfect explanation of her audience.

Logo Concepts:

Kristy would like a distinct logo design that she can use throughout her website, on social media and inside of her books. This is to give her the option to either self publish, or already have a brand in place when working with a publisher. The idea of Kristy’s Brand Design is to draw in the reader to get to know Kristy just as well as they might know her books. She wants to make personal connections with young women so she can help uplift and inspire them as they continue on their journey to adulthood.

Brand Display Board:

After a meeting together, we discovered a favorite design element and completely switched gears in creating Kristy’s final logos. We loved the handwritten feel and to give the logo a golden glow, which “Glow” happens to be the name of her book. Just sayin’...

Next Step, Branding Photos:

Kristy’s Branding Photos were a dream. I always take Branding Photos after the Inspiration/Mood board is completed so we have the right look and feel during our shoot. We met at the gorgeous Portland International Rose Test Garden, at dusk, and proceeded to take some of the prettiest and most femininely serene photos. This was the perfect spot for our photo session as the colors perfectly matched her brand colors, rosy pinks, light greens and soft whites. This was a new experience for Kristy to be in front of the camera and I think she did great! Last Step, Business Essentials:

Her business cards are a dream come true. I went through a new company that helped me print gorgeous gold foil, Print Peppermint - I highly recommend, and I think the cards turned out great!
