Brand Design for Sugar Sugar Portland

I am so excited to introduce you to my latest brand design! The best part about this Brand Design is how Abbie and I met and her amazing transformation from then on.

I live in a really cute section of Portland, Oregon. It's about 5 miles outside of the city and you feel like you've entered a small town. Not quite Stars Hollow like, but definitely quaint. It's my favorite area and I love to walk around, visit the shops and eat all of the great food represented.

Anyway, I was walking in the neighborhood and I saw a sign offering sugaring hair removal services...this is something I've always wanted to try. So I popped on my phone and scheduled a session.

**MARKETING TIP: Walk by traffic in a city or small town actually converts! Update your signage and capture those potential clients.

I had never tried sugaring hair removal before, but it was so much better than waxing...including the fact that it's totally natural. No chemicals or paper strips.

Abbie is a total pro at sugaring, she was kind enough to talk me through the process and explain how it works, what it's made out of and how it originated. All things I find very interesting. But the best part was, Abbie asked what I did and got really excited because she was looking to update her brand!

The rest is history...

Just kidding!

So Abbie told me how she was looking to find her own space and really dive in deep to her brand by offering her own line of balms and lotions as well as her sugaring services. She may even get to start a training program helping others learn sugaring techniques.

All this to say, she had big plans for her brand. But she was still sharing a rented room, not very happy with her current brand design and still needed more business.

Fast forward to a few weeks later, Abbie connected with me again and said she was ready for a brand re-design. By the time we were able to meet, it was all happening. Abbie was expanding business! She had found her own place to rent and a local mixologist who was partnering with her to create a product line of balms, lotions and sugar scrubs.

So exciting!

We got together and mapped out her brand design. We talked about who her ideal client was (and by the way it was totally me - haha!), what was the best way to market her business and what design items she would need to take this business the next step.

Want to see how it all turned out?

First things first, we always start with inspiration.

INSPIRATION/MOOD BOARD:

We wanted to create a brand that was strong, feminine, unique, natural, modern with a touch of luxury.

LOGO CONCEPTS

At first we played around with the natural element of the sugar paste being made out of lemon, sugar and water. It was important to have a natural yet modern feel.

FINAL MAIN LOGO:

The final logo was a combination of things. The paint strokes hold that natural feeling and look a lot like the sugar paste itself, while keeping it modern with the color and feminine with the font. We were both smitten with this logo design.

BRAND DISPLAY BOARD:

Here's where the magic happens. After creating her main logo it was time to create some secondary logos specifically ones that could be used for her product line.

Next Step... BRANDING PHOTOS:

Photos are by far one of the most important and best things you can do for your business. Whether you have products or services, it's important to show off what you do/sell and who you are. I absolutely love how these photos turned out.

Last step... MARKETING - I call these items, BUSINESS ESSENTIALS.

We knew she would have a lot of foot traffic walking by being in this very walkable neighborhood, so the first marketing pieces we focused on were her signs. Signage is super important and makes a huge difference. If you're the best sign on the block, you stand out, see below.

...and more BUSINESS ESSENTIALS:

With all the new incoming foot traffic, it was "essential" (see what I did there?) that we created some takeaways for people. So our next steps were to create Business Cards, Service Menu Cards and Coupon Cards. (Abbie has an amazing special, every new client gets 20% off their first visit - how great is that!?)

I am so unbelievably proud of this incredible small business owner! She's accomplished so much in the past couple of months and her business is taking off!
